What Is a Prefabricated Steel Structure Building?

A prefabricated steel structure building is a bolt-together steel frame system in which every column, rafter, purlin, and connection plate is precision-cut, drilled, and welded in our factory — then containerized and shipped to your site for rapid assembly.

Key Features

1. Bolt-Together System — No Site Welding

  · Every connection in our steel frames is designed for bolted assembly. Your crew needs:

         · A mobile crane or telehandler

         · Basic hand tools and torque wrenches

         · Our color-coded erection drawing set

         · No welding machines. No on-site NDT. No weather delays waiting for weld inspections.

2. Custom Engineering for Your Climate

· Not all steel buildings are the same. We design to your actual environmental loads:

Load Type

Design Range

Example

Snow load

Up to 5.0 kPa

Northern Canada, Scandinavia, Alps

Wind speed

Up to 250 km/h (70 m/s)

Hurricane zones, coastal Australia

Seismic

Zone 0 to Zone 4

New Zealand, Japan, Chile

Temperature

-45°C to +50°C

Arctic to desert environments

Case | 280 m² Integrated Poultry Rearing & Processing Barn, Brandon, Manitoba

Project Location: Brandon, Manitoba Building Type: Small-scale Poultry Rearing & Slaughter Processing Barn Building Area: 280 m² (two zones: 180 m² rearing area + 100 m² processing area) Building Dimensions: 10 m × 28 m Delivery Timeline: 25 days for design + 35 days for fabrication + 30 days for land transportation & installation

Project Background

The client is a small-scale farmer in Manitoba selling free-range chicken directly through Farmers’ Markets and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). A compliant integrated building for on-farm rearing and on-site slaughter & processing was required to obtain approval as a small poultry processing facility from the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency).

Technical Solution

  • Overall portal frame structure, 10 m × 28 m. Internal light-gauge steel partition walls fully separate the rearing zone from the processing zone.
  • Rearing Area (180 m²): Open sidewalls with roller shutters + evaporative cooling pad fan system; capacity of 800 free-range broilers per batch.
  • Processing Area (100 m²): Fully enclosed with 100 mm rock wool sandwich panels. Internal walls lined with stainless steel, epoxy flooring and drainage channels installed.
  • Processing zone layout: single-direction workflow – slaughter room → scalding room → plucking room → evisceration room → pre-cooling room → packaging room.
  • Cold storage: A 3 m × 3 m blast freezer plus a 4 m × 4 m finished-product cold room at the far end of the processing area.
  • Wastewater treatment: Underground three-chamber septic tank plus grease interceptor.
  • Insulation: 100 mm PIR panels for roof and walls of the processing area, maintaining constant temperature between 10–15 °C year-round.

Project Highlights

The design with physically separated rearing and processing spaces within one steel building passed the CFIA pre-review. This is Manitoba’s first approved small poultry facility integrating rearing and slaughter. The client’s cold-chain transportation cost per chicken dropped from $2.80 to nearly zero.

Frequently Asked Questions

· How long does it take from order to delivery?

· Typical timeline: design & engineering 15–25 working days + fabrication 25–50 working days + ocean freight (varies by destination; e.g., 22 days to West Africa, 30 days to Europe, 35 days to East Coast North America). Most projects arrive on site within 10–14 weeks of order confirmation.

· Can you handle the structural design and calculations?

· Yes. Our in-house engineering team produces a complete structural package — frame analysis, connection design, foundation reaction tables, and anchor bolt layouts — referenced to your local building code. We can also coordinate with your local engineer of record for plan review and permit submission.
